The Cultural Asylum

Graduation Project | Marwan Omar | Fall 2014

The concept of the individual project is to create a mini-city that intensifies culture to entertain, expose and nourish the diverse users. But why a mini-city? The site has a respectable sample of the Egyptian population. Ramses was named by the students a “population meter”. Thus a mini-city is a reflection of the users that was once denoted the living room of the city; through reflecting the diverse locations and origins of the users that walk and use the site. Moreover the intensifying of culture happens with people not buildings; for people are the direct and dynamic reflection of culture.
