Calligraphy and Patterns are two things that give Egyptian products their own identity. The project aims at saving people by empowering them to be independent individuals. The learning centre introduces a new type of education that is needed, an education that is not based on learning the alphabets. It is based on acquiring knowledge that can save a person. I believe learning the alphabets cannot save them in such a country. But learning how to shape alphabets and make patterns out of shapes can surely do.
Part of being independent is to be self sufficient thats why the crafts are applied on recycled materials that are brought from "حارة الزبالين" that is so close to the site.
